Ambassador’s Welcome Speech

Dear Friends,

Thank you for visiting the official website of the Embassy of Georgia to the Slovak Republic.

It is my honour and sincere pleasure, in my capacity as Ambassador of Georgia to the Slovak Republic, to address you. It is of particular significance to me personally to be entrusted with the responsibility of representing my country in this friendly and dynamically developing state – a country which holds a respected place within the European family and is firmly committed to the ideals of democracy, the rule of law and peaceful, sustainable development.

Georgia and the Slovak Republic are connected not only by diplomatic relations, but also by shared values – a steadfast dedication to freedom, respect for human dignity and a strong conviction that unity and cooperation are the path towards a secure and sustainable future. The history of our relations already spans many years, during which we have built practical, trust‑based cooperation in both bilateral and multilateral formats.

Today, cooperation between Georgia and the Slovak Republic encompasses a wide range of areas – politics, the economy, culture, education, tourism etc. We strive to promote the growth of bilateral trade flows, to open up new opportunities for business and to encourage investment. Our partnership in the fields of education and technological innovation, which offers the younger generation the opportunity to learn, to grow and to shape our common European future together is particularly noteworthy.

I would like to express my special gratitude to the Government and people of the Slovak Republic for their unwavering support for Georgia’s European and Euro‑Atlantic integration. This solidarity strengthens, provides encouragement and reassures us that Georgia’s irreversible path of democratic reform, institutional development and the consolidation of the rule of law is being recognized fairly within the European Union, with the valuable support of Slovakia.

We attach particular importance to cultural cooperation as well. Culture is a bridge that connects peoples and reminds us how many values we share, despite the geographical distance between us. In the near future, cultural cooperation between our two countries will be further intensified: Georgian art and literature already hold a unique place in the perception of Slovak society, while Slovak culture – with its rich traditions and distinctly European character – is gaining ever greater visibility and recognition in Georgia.

We are confident that Georgia and the Slovak Republic, working together, will be able to achieve our common objectives – strengthening regional stability, enhancing economic well‑being and preserving peace in Europe and beyond its borders. Friendship, dialogue and mutual respect are the values upon which our cooperation is founded.

As Ambassador of Georgia to the Slovak Republic, I feel personally responsible for ensuring that my actions, and those of the entire Georgian diplomatic team, are fully aligned with these goals – deepening our relations, enhancing mutual understanding between our peoples and constantly improving the quality of our friendship. At the same time, I have set myself the objective of ensuring that Georgia enjoys a dignified, forward‑looking and progressive image in Slovakia – that of a country firmly anchored in European values and ready to seize every opportunity to contribute to the strengthening of the wider European family.

I am firmly convinced that the friendship between Georgia and the Slovak Republic will only deepen in the years ahead. Together, as equal partners and in a spirit of mutual respect, we will be able to achieve even greater success for the benefit of our states and our peoples.
