Marking the Day of Georgian Language in Slovakia
On the occassion of the Day of Georgian Language, the Embassy of Georgia, in cooperation with Comenius University Bratislava and with the support of the Honorary Consul of Georgia in Považská Bystrica, hosted cultural academic events in Bratislava and Považska Bystrica on 29-30 April.
On 29th April, Professor Tinatin Bolkvadze of Tbilisi Ivane Javakhishvili State University, delivered a keynote lecture at the premises of Comenius University “16 Centuries of Documented History and the Future of the Georgian Language”. The lecture sparked strong interest among both students and professors. Alongside her focus on the Georgian language, Tinatin Bolkvadze spoke about the languages spoken in Georgia, language policy and the challenges facing the Georgian language. An engaging discussion followed the presentation.
On 20th April, a presentation by Professor Bolkvadze was held at the 17th- century historic castle hotel in Považská Bystrica Gino Park Palace, generously hosted by the Honorary Consul of Georgia Dr. Nodar Giorgadze. The event brought together local officials from the Považská Bystrica region and representatives of the business sector and members of the regional cultural community.
